- Double-weighted statement
- This is a leading text on a highly important and undervalued area of research. Rooted in the collective, collaborative experience of researchers from the Evidence for Policy and Practice Information and Co-ordinating Centre, it examines the conceptual distinctions between the many choices of method in the mapping and synthesis of research. It introduces a wide range of cutting-edge approaches to research synthesis including automated searching and screening, living reviews and new ideas in mixed methods reviews. Its accessibility and value in answering leading policy questions of our time makes it a key resource for students and researchers at all levels.

- Additional information
- This new edition develops the original text in significant ways. The important intellectual work of framing questions about what research tells us about an issue is given more space. Reviews can include all kinds and levels of data; this gets increased recognition. Greater attention is paid to exploring the use of computer-assisted technologies in the review process and in living reviews. Similarly, the use of statistical techniques has a larger place. The complicated matter of judging the quality of individual studies has been extended to the appraisal of the totality of evidence in a review.
