- This 800-page edited volume explores the Slavo-Byzantine written culture through multiple perspectives and multi-disciplinary methodologies. Angusheva (co-editor) developed the book’s conceptual framework and structure, reviewed and, in some cases substantially revised, the contributions. Her own chapter, to which she contributed more than 50%, offers a new perspective on the role and shifting uses of amulet scrolls and books in the late Medieval period. The volume was awarded John D Bell Book Prize by the American Association of Bulgarian Studies, noting ‘consistently outstanding quality’ of articles, whose ‘new discoveries and penetrating analysis make a major and lasting contribution’ to the field.
