- As energy efficiency is an important consideration when developing future ICT equipment, this work proposes a novel algorithm to minimize energy consumption in optical networks based on international standards (ITU G.988). The algorithm resulted from a funded collaboration with Korean researchers (Research on Communication Technology using Bio-inspired Algorithm (1391104001), Korean Government). This research has led to a Climate Change Research Hub project (grant No. EEWS-2014-N01140044) of the KAIST EEWS (Energy, Environment, Water and Sustainability) Research Center in Korea (Jae Kyu Lee, Distinguished Professor, KAIST, jklee@kaist.ac.kr).
