- Double-weighted statement
- This book is the product of several years of research into Nietzsche’s middle writings in which the author does two main things across six main chapters: (a) provide a series of fresh and novel insights into the character of Nietzsche’s intellectual development; (b) shows the need to take seriously the Enlightenment-inspired intellectual tasks Nietzsche commits his philosophy to in the neglected middle writings. The book seeks to make an important contribution to Nietzsche-studies by suggesting that Nietzsche’s polemical late writings have been accorded an undue significance that has served to overshadow the reception of his innovative and progressive-minded middle writings.
