- The uniqueness of this substantial peer-reviewed book is that it is the first to explore the application of complexity theory to criminal justice and social work from a range of differing perspectives (positivist, realist, post modern), and in relation to different international contexts (UK, USA, Canada, Australia), with an approach that is fundamentally interdisciplinary (Probation, Youth Justice, Policing, Nursing, Child Protection and Management Studies). The contributors demonstrate the contribution of complexity in providing underpinning theory and knowledge for policy makers and practitioners in developing whole systems approaches to address significant and intractable social problems.
