- This monograph has a wide theoretical and intellectual range. In addition to the close reading of numerous volumes of Freud's extensive 'late' work, the book engages in considerable detail with four areas of theory (psychoanalytic, political, literary and cultural). Within each area, there is reference to a large and diverse cast of thinkers. Contemporary case studies are drawn from areas including HR, the body and wellness, American politics, social media, and the consumption of popular culture. The result is a complex and multi-faceted account of the transformative effect of Freud's thought in our contemporary moment.
