- This wide-ranging three-part article (17,000 words), published in the Institute of Historical Research’s top journal, constitutes a critical intellectual biography of Adolfo Posada, a Spanish jurist attached to Oviedo University. It reveals how Posada’s thought informed debates on political and social reform in Spain, Argentina and Uruguay in the early twentieth century. It is original in its examination of Krausism in Spain and positions both Krause and Posada within the broader context of nineteenth century European philosophy, drawing comparatively on Hegel, Fichte, Comte, Mill and Spencer. The research is based on untapped archival sources and an extensive literature review.
