- Double-weighted statement
- This monograph resulted from a six-year research project into David Bowie. The innovative, intertextual research approach, which attracted worldwide media attention, involved a recreation of and immersion in Bowie's cultural frameworks: the novels, films, music and artwork that influenced his career. The author performed as Bowie live on several occasions, adopting his costumes and make-up, and undertook pilgrimage to key sites where Bowie lived across the UK, US, Australia, Germany and Italy, in order to study his cultural surroundings. It was the first academic monograph to consider Bowie’s work as a whole, spanning his life and career across multiple art-forms.
