- Published in the leading archival software engineering journal, this paper extends the authors' prior work on role-based UI simplification to present an end-to-end adaption procedure, with a rigorous evaluation of performance and user experience. This research is often cited as an exemplar adaptive UI framework (Yigitbas et al., 2017; Hussein et al., 2018), with the layout customisation approach supporting adaptive UIs for enhancing accessibility (Khan and Khusro, 2019). This work is also the basis for follow on doctoral research in Model-driven Engineering of Self-Adaptive User Interfaces [Yigitbas, Paderborn University] and Privacy-aware Adaptive User Interfaces [Wijesundara, The Open University].
