- A novel model, based on a stability analysis of pin-ended columns, was developed for the analysis of HSC slender columns. It is simple and highly accurate compared to results obtained from sophisticated finite element programs. It showed excellent agreement with experimental results and gave better prediction than the current design building codes. A large consulting firm, Alfred Benesch & Company, Chicago, USA, provided feedback that they used the model for the analysis and design of one of the bridges they were working on (Letter from Chief Structural Engineer, http://web.benesch.com).
