- The conference version of this paper won a best paper award at VLDB 2014. It takes an important step in generating efficient database implementations while working within high-level programming languages. It presents an efficient query-engine written in the high-level language Scala. Experimental results show considerably improved performance in comparison with both a commercial database system and a state-of-the-art research database system.
