- This paper is derived from a NATO funded collaborative research project (ESC(SPS)(2013)0391) in collaboration with the University of Beira Interior and University of Monastir coordinated by Dr Paulo Reis (paulo.reis@dem.uc.pt). It focuses on developing polymer composites based containers for passenger plane luggage in which damage and fire from explosion can be isolated and contained by utilising the superior impact resistant performance of polymer matrix composites. The knowledge created from this paper can be potentially utilized to address terrorist attack issues.
