- The book is the product of extensive qualitative research undertaken in five cities across the USA during 2016/17. It was a complex piece of work that resulted in the views of 415 participants gathered through a variety of approaches and settings. The project required sustained research effort in terms of travelling to different cities across the USA but also in creating, building and sustaining links with a variety of stakeholders to make the fieldwork and research possible. The result is an output that captures the complex narratives and values that underpin what it means to be white, working class.
