- This significant collaborative paper builds upon an existing body of internationally leading published research work in the area of substituted apatite coatings. This publication’s novelty has led to 2 further collaborative papers with Riga Technical University (RTU) and provided preliminary data for a successful £1.2M US-Ireland R&D partnership award (USI 111) funded by NSF (USA), SFI (RoI) and DfE (NI) which has extended the work to resorbable implantable orthopaedic fracture fixation devices. This paper also led to an invited presentation at the International Workshop of Materials Physics (Bucharest, 21st September 2020).
