- Double-weighted statement
- This monograph presents the findings of a 5-year Wellcome Trust-funded team research effort across a wide and diverse body of archives and literary sources located in four distinct areas of the UK. The author was responsible, with another senior and two junior academics, for organising, consolidating, and rigorously analysing the team-gathered research material. He co-wrote the bulk of the monograph (five full-length chapters, out of six) with one of the junior academics; through these chapters he challenges received wisdoms on industrialisation and disability and presents an innovative multidisciplinary new methodology to study working people.
