- This research introduced an innovative analytical critical thrust force model based on first-order shear deformation theory by incorporating mixed modes I and II strain energy release rates of laminated composites during drilling. This research was an output of a project funded by the Niger-Delta Development Commission of the Federal Government, Nigeria, grant numbers NDDC/DEHSS/2013PGFS/OND/3 and FP/2007-2013/ERC/306622. Furthermore, this research contributed towards a new Postdoctoral Research Fellowship position for Dr Ojo at the University of Limerick (UoL), Ireland, grant numbers: PB/NC/10024664 and PB/KS/HR Service Centre/10024664. It also led to research collaboration between the University of Portsmouth, UoL and IMT, Italy (marco.paggi@imtlucca.it).
