- This paper presents a new approach to the implementation of lean management in higher education, challenging the current practices and misunderstandings. It has already resulted in a DBA project for Sheffield Hallam University, and collaboration with Herriot Watt University in a funding application (CQI Quality 4.0 definitions). It has also led in visiting collaboration with the University of Verona. Furthermore, in a cross-disciplinary manner, the application of the framework has influenced the development of CPD courses in Lean and Lean Six Sigma delivered to local industries, such as BAE Systems and Bray Controls, leading to operational improvement and staff upskilling.
