- This book is the result of extensive data collection, generated in two fieldwork periods over three years. The adopted methodology of trial observations was time-intensive due to the technical nature of trial observations, including the negotiation of the court system and identification of relevant cases for sampling. Each observed trial lasted between one week and two months, and involved creating handwritten transcripts averaging over 66,000 words in length. The analyses have been tested and refined in collaboration with key stakeholders to create theoretical contributions.
