- The book is the result of a major international conference in 2007, with over 350 participants, which was conceived and organised by Cox. As well as co-authoring the book's introduction and a chapter, Cox co-created the sound-film, ‘Air Pressure’, on the DVD which is inserted into the book. Cox also curated the public art exhibition at the Whitworth art gallery, 'Castaways', by Steven Feld and Virginia Ryan, who co-authored chapter 9.
