- The research for this book took seven years to complete and involved extensive research in archives and libraries across Europe. In total, I visited eight archives in Germany consulting over a thousand folios. Archival material had to be transcribed and translated from German or Latin, and carefully cross-referenced with incomplete and inaccurate printed sources. In addition to the archival material, I consulted an extensive range of printed primary material (over 100 titles). The final book relied on the completion of a database of every Anabaptist in central Germany, a list of 800 names, and hand-created maps of every location.
