- The Chiseldon hoard offered an extraordinary opportunity to investigate multiple contemporary objects but it also presented a unique set of challenges. This book is the culmination of over 10 year’s work, including a Leverhulme funded (2010-2014) programme of scientific investigation and conservation which Joy coordinated. The objects were extremely fragile and in order to investigate them fully we drew on different techniques and strategies such as CT scanning and digital recording. In addition, primary research was required on prehistoric cauldrons, feasting and the prehistory of Wiltshire, resulting in one of the most comprehensive studies of a prehistoric hoard ever published.
