- This single-authored monograph comprises c.95,000 words of text, c.41,000 words of appendices (including several unpublished archival sources), and c.160 images. It is the product of 8 years of research drawing on archival and iconographic evidence, literary and musical manuscripts and publications, eyewitness reports, official and personal correspondence, and surviving objects. Inherently interdisciplinary, the book reconstructs a cross-section of the activities that took place in the rooms of Palazzo Bevilacqua, shedding light on the life, relationships, and aspirations of a preeminent figure in the world of Italian collecting and artistic patronage in the final quarter of the sixteenth century.
