- This is a research monograph of 222 pages which presents the findings of an in-depth qualitative study conducted over four years. It includes ethnographic observations of editorial meetings during the conflict in Ukraine, documentary analysis and long interviews with editors and journalists. It provides a theoretical framework for evaluating the Russian media system and a historical overview of the development of liberal media in Russia. It focuses on some of Russia?s most influential liberal national news outlets ? the newspaper Novaya Gazeta and two radio stations ? Radio Echo of Moscow and Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty.
