- This co-authored work involved collaboration between Tormey and two Spain experts, Feenstra and Casero-Ripollés, and Keane, a leading political theorist. It combines deep engagement with literatures in political theory, history of ideas and democracy studies with extensive fieldwork in five Spanish cities over the course of 2013 to 2017. This involved interviews with politicians, activists, party leaders and media commentators, and ethnographic studies of the activist milieu, action research and participatory activities with various activist communities. Tormey has been asked to deliver keynotes on the findings in Spain, the UK, US, Australia, Germany, and Taiwan.
