- This book reflects a sustained research effort over three years, and draws on fieldwork conducted in Peru, Malawi and Kyrgyzstan. It is the result of the collection and analysis of a large body of data. This includes extensive archival analysis from three international NGOs, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Department of International Development and its predecessors. It also includes dozens of interviews with civil servants, NGO practitioners, and translators and interpreters.
