- ORIGINALITY: A novel query auto-completion approach is proposed which led to more effective query auto-completions. RIGOUR: The approach was tested rigorously on three real-life query logs (Sogou, AOL and MSN) and have shown significant improvements. This paper was published in a top Information Retrieval conference (with 16% acceptance rate). SIGNIFICANCE: Query autocompletion influences the user engagement with the search engines and our highly-cited work, with robust and rigorous comparisons with state-of-the-art baselines, will have a direct influence on search engine user engagement.
