- The monograph is the outcome of the sustained research effort of a three-person project team over a period of four years. The research investigates existential and locative constructions in considerable depth and from different, synchronic and historical, perspectives. The arguments advanced in the monograph are based upon the analysis of a large and complex body of primary sources: modern dialect data collected over a lengthy period at 138 survey locations in Italy, twenty-six Latin texts, and data obtained from a corpus of over 10,000 pages in twelve early Italo-Romance vernaculars.
