- This is a research monograph and a “longer-form output”. It includes 229 pages and approx. 105K words. It was researched for about 18 months in a number of archives in the UK, Spain and Mexico. The book is almost exclusively based on unpublished sources (letters, reports, etc.) and shows complex and in-depth research. It is the first comparative history of the two civil wars and produced an original interpretation of the 1930s-Spanish Civil War. It has been awarded the CHOICE Outstanding Academic Title award for 2017.
