- This book provides an original analysis of the betrayal of the Spanish people by its political class over 150 years. Blending political with social analysis, it reinterprets the country’s entire modern experience. Based on detailed research since 2013 (and half a century of related work) it investigates the complex interaction of corruption, political incompetence, and the consequent social divisions. Drawing on an exhaustive command of the prodigious secondary literature, as well as primary sources, the text comprises 284,350 words and the endnotes fill 140 pages.
