- This work centred on the collection and analysis of a large body of extensive and complex sources over four years of sustained research (2012 -2016.) A unique compilation of varied minutes and accounts from thirty parishes, alongside nearly 300 wills, and numerous burgh records and printed treatises, were analysed in the longer-form output of a 120k word book. The writing of the monograph was supported by a year-long sabbatical in 2016-17. It includes eight chapters of original analysis each equivalent in substance to a typical journal article, which collectively investigated the theme in depth from varied locations and source types.
