- This is the first paper that takes the battery discharge rate into account by advancing the previous rain-flow cycle-counting method. It makes a signification contribution to the research field of energy storage as it provided a tool enabling the fast, accurate and quantifiable analysis of the battery lifetime extension under the hybrid energy storage scheme, and unlocked a great many further studies, evidenced by high citation rates. For example, this study is used in an EV application by State Key Laboratory of Automotive in China, (Minggao-Ouyang, Academician). It is the key output of grant EPSRC EP/K01496X/1.
