- Scharbrodt is co-author of this book (total of 266 pages), contributing the introduction, Chapter 2, most of chapter 5 and the conclusion and taking overall editorial responsibility in completing it. It arises from original research undertaken as part of the Islam in Ireland project that was funded by the Irish Research Council over 3 years. The range of primary sources is extensive and varied, including historical material (archival, newspapers, oral history), interviews and ethnographic research. Being the first comprehensive study of Muslims in Ireland, the book makes a significant contribution to mapping the Muslim presence in Europe.
