- This is a monograph output that resulted from several years of extensive interdisciplinary research, which involved visual analysis, fieldwork, interviews, and critical engagement with unpublished archival sources as well as scholarly literature from a wide variety of arts, humanities and social sciences disciplines. Through that, this book output offers critical insight on present-day gay masculinities by means of an in-depth analysis of contemporary gay male sex cultures as they intersect with visual culture, LGBTQ+ subcultural histories, the legacy of the AIDS crisis, and the biopolitical affordances of antiretroviral drugs.
