- Here, we report methods to tailor foam cell structure during conversion of auxetic foam sheets - facilitating fabrication of uniform and gradient foam sheets large enough for protective equipment, footwear and prosthesis. We explain changes to cell structure on mechanical properties via an analytical model also developed here. The work is cited in material and sports materials reviews. We have repeated the method, both in publication and contracted research with New Balance (Patrick.Streeter@newbalance.com), and developed it for use with auxetic closed cell foams – for publication and ongoing contracted research applying auxetic foam to ON AG’s heel pads (jean-philippe.romain@on-running.com).
