- The significance of this paper is that it presents a large scale evaluation of algorithms, for the classification of Alzheimer's disease, mild cognitive impairment and healthy subjects from multi-source brain MRI data, submitted to ‘CADDementia Challenge’ of the 2014 International Conference on Medical Image Computing & Computer Assisted Intervention. The main novelty is in the benchmarking: framework, performance evaluation and comparison. Since publication in 2014, the framework has been continuously used to evaluate and rank new algorithmic submissions and has gained acceptance as the standard for such an important medical application (caddementia.grand-challenge.org).
