- The paper reports the outcomes of an international effort to deliver verification and validation of numerical models in the wave energy industry, established under the Ocean Energy Systems Technology Collaboration Programme within the International Energy Agency. It reveals the importance of including weak nonlinearities in the numerical analysis of surface-piercing wave energy systems, which represent key benchmarking test cases. It has led to further investigations incorporating a validation aspect using experimental data in collaboration with Sandia National Laboratories, KRISO (Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering) and Floating Power Plant (via Aalborg University).
