- The sequence of authorship of the paper is alphabetical and does not reflect the share of work contributed by each author. Both authors equally contributed to this article: the development of the research design, data analysis and writing up of the findings were a collaboration. D’heer took the lead in parts of the data collection (interviews and participant observations), while Verdegem led the development of the theoretical framework and social media data collection. The different parts of data collection were brought together and were jointly analysed. After this, the two authors wrote a first version of the different sections of the article, co-wrote the conclusion and discussion and finished the manuscript in different iterations.
