- Double-weighted statement
- This 578-page volume is the product of well over a decade of detailed archival and historical research, in part in the context of an AHRC-funded project. In addition to 6 meticulously researched historical chapters, the volume provides 41+ appendices bringing into the public domain the fruits of much archival work, including many texts edited and published for the first time, with detailed notes.

- Additional information
- Chapter 2 of this volume grew out of an article published in 2008, “Sìol Torcail and their lordship in the sixteenth century” (http://eprints.gla.ac.uk/4622/) The 2015 book chapter (60pp) represents a very substantial development and expansion of that earlier work (20pp), which was essentially a road-map indicating the direction of future research. The 2015 book accomplishes that research.
