- Neo-Victorian Freakery: The Cultural Afterlife of the Victorian Freak Show is a monograph of 97,000 words. It is the first study in the field of neo-Victorian studies to explore representations of disability. The book examines two historical / social periods of cultural depictions of freak show performers: the nineteenth century and the contemporary period (from the 1980s onwards). It takes an intersectional critical approach, covering issues of gender, sexuality, ethnicity, and class, alongside disability.
