- This paper reports a world-first experiment at the Diamond Light Source which replicated manufacturing sheet deformation in-situ, in collaboration with BMW-MINI. Catching the attention of PR staff at Diamond, it featured in ‘Inside Diamond’ (http://extranet2.diamond.ac.uk/ISV/Flipping/InsideDiamond/Summer2014/index.html#14-15). Feature articles on this work also appeared in Materials & Manufacturing Technologies, pp. 10-11 (March 2016) and Engineering Materials, pp. 23-24 (Spring 2016), where it featured as the journal’s front cover. As a result, the lead author won the Diamond-Infineum Early Career Research Prize (2015) and was invited to give two conference talks (iCar 2015, Didcot, UK & Thermec 2014, Las Vegas, USA).
