- This publication challenges the notion that children with autism prefer technologies over other kinds of activities such as exploring nature or the arts, engagements with other living beings like animals or lack interest in human relationship such as with close caregivers. By including perspectives from autism advocacy, parents of children with autism, medical practitioners, and adults with Asperger’s, the publication argues that children with autism should first and foremost be seen as social beings with difficulties in expressing this sociality, and then follow on from this core assumption by, exploring how social robots can help them develop social skills.
