- This significant paper reports on a direct approach to deliver calcium phosphate coatings on to the surface of bioinert polyetheretherketone using radio-frequency magnetron sputtering and builds on the internationally leading work with the Drug Research Institute, Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium and Riga Technical University, Latvia. This work has helped underpin a new research area in the bioactivity enhancement of Polyaryletherketones and has already led to a second internationally collaborative paper (https://www.mdpi.com/2073-4360/13/4/545/htm), which provides an alternative route to deliver additional calcium phosphate onto the surface of PEEK, funded by INTERREGVA North West Centre for Advanced Manufacturing project (£2.2 million).
