- This EPSRC H2FC SUPERGEN funded work reports for the first time to remove volatile fatty acids (major commodity chemical) using conventional electrodialysis from hydrogen fermentation broths with generation of purified hydrogen fuel up to 99% recovery. This work led to a H2020 funded programme with RES URBIS (https://www.resurbis.eu/) a 20-partner consortium (£2.3M Total £220K USW) operating across Europe involving universities, companies and city regions to demonstrate the production of biopolymers from municipal wastes. A new PhD (£25K) is funded (Dr Ben Burggraaf, Head of Energy DCWW) to develop this new strategy for sewage biosolids to green platform chemicals.
