- Micromuseology focuses on small independent museums (micromuseums). At time of writing there was no comprehensive list of museums in the UK, and no coherent resource on small museums. Many micromuseums do not have websites, or else the website only carries cursory information, and they have no or very little public profile beyond their immediate area. Thus, researching Micromuseology meant that I had to identify these institutions, collect information on them, and document their displays. Research involved considerable travel within the UK over a period of three years. In total I visited 80 museums, with 60 discussed within the final publication
