- Reports a 2-bit optical spectral quantization scheme based on the silicon horizontal slot waveguide for the first time, where a nonlinear coefficient as high as 8708 W-1m-1 offers enhanced nonlinear interaction, thus a low power threshold level. The scheme can be used in on-chip all-optical digital signal processing systems. It led to research grants from Natural Science Foundation of Beijing (4152037) and the Fund of State Key Laboratory of Information Photonics and Optical Communications of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. International collaboration (Hong Kong and China) supported by multiple sources including National Natural Science Foundation (China) and SFI (Ireland).
