- This was the first step of using newly developed prediction based distributed filtering method for class of time-varying nonlinear stochastic systems with communications delays and missing measurements through the sensor network. Despite this first publication only addressing the phenomena of communication delays, the potential of this approach was immediately recognised by both the Welsh Government and industrial (Toshiba Europe, International Space Propulsion Limited) sponsors internationally, resulting in securing of long-term research project (£1.58M), within one year. This was accompanied by several invitations to deliver keynote lectures, seminars, and to take part in sponsored workshops on the topic.
