- Double-weighted statement
- This book was based on extensive theoretical and empirical work, carried out over 5-years, funded through a 3-year collaborative project. The theoretical analysis drew on literature across political science, sociology, organisational studies, and science and technology studies, to develop an original theory of the role of performance measurement in politics and public administration. The empirical material drew on: (1) 65 interviews with policy-makers, including difficult to access respondents; (2) content analysis of reports from the core executive, departments, select committee evidence and reports, and National Audit Office documents; and (3) qualitative and quantitative analysis of newspaper coverage and parliamentary transcripts.
