- This chapter contains the findings of research on the visual representation of immigrants in the Greek press, comparing it with previous research completed a few years earlier. This second piece of research was conducted in 2011 when Greece was in the midst of a severe economic crisis that threatened social cohesion. The findings show the repetition of certain patterns that frame immigrants as ‘others’ and as a ‘threat’. However, there are also some notable differences that reflect a negative trend in the volatile economic and social environment caused by the economic crisis.
