- Bilingualism in Action is based on a decade of fieldwork data collection and experimental research, in the UK, US and Spain, funded by the ESRC, the Leverhulme Trust and the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. The work is based on an exclusive dataset comprised of over 10,000 pages of UK and US bilingual police interviews and bilingual verbal elicitations from over 100 participants in 10 witness memory experiments. The study predicts and explains the different linguistic behaviours by bilinguals in various social settings using a novel multi-factor model of bilingualism that uniquely combines theoretical linguistics, psycholinguistics and sociolinguistics.
