- Double-weighted statement
- This wide-ranging selection of sixteen stories includes writing previously disseminated in a variety of contexts and media. Gathering nearly a decade’s work, Its 206 pages explore characters at many life stages and from a range of social and cultural backgrounds. The stories foreground the importance particularly of female relationships in a troubling world. Several of the stories derive directly from engagements with, and re-workings of, literary history, including most directly 'Brunty Country' and 'My Grandmother Meets Katherine Mansfield'. This clash of pasts and present both forms a model for, and a sceptical 'take' on, responses to the contemporary moment.
